Corpus Christi, Texas – Dangerous heat is gripping South Texas today, with highs soaring to 105°F in Laredo and Cotulla, while storms begin ramping up across the region as early as Tuesday afternoon. Residents along the Coastal Bend should prepare for a sweltering, stormy week as conditions become increasingly unstable through Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, inland cities like Alice, Tilden, and Freer will see highs between 100°F and 104°F through Monday, with a moderate to major risk of heat-related impacts. A 50% to 65% chance of showers and thunderstorms will spread eastward starting Tuesday, increasing daily through Friday.

Port Lavaca and Rockport will stay cooler in the upper 80s to low 90s but still face elevated humidity and potential for localized downpours. Storms may trigger street flooding in low-lying areas, especially where drainage is limited. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable individuals.

Widespread rain could offer brief heat relief midweek, but elevated heat indices—approaching 110°F—remain a concern inland. Coastal areas may see isolated showers with wind gusts up to 25 mph.

Thunderstorm chances drop slightly by Saturday, but temperatures stay in the upper 90s. Stay tuned to NWS Corpus Christi for updated watches or advisories.
