San Antonio, TX – A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for South-Central Texas on Friday, with gusty winds and low humidity increasing wildfire risks. Areas along the I-35 corridor, including San Antonio, Hill Country, and the Rio Grande Plains, face critical fire weather conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, a dryline and Pacific cold front will move across the region, bringing winds of 15-25 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph in some areas. The most intense winds will arrive by midday, with relative humidity levels dropping as low as 5%. These conditions create a high risk for rapid fire spread.

Residents should avoid outdoor burning and be cautious with any open flames. Officials urge people to secure loose outdoor objects and be prepared for possible fire-related restrictions.

Friday’s high temperature will reach around 89°F before cooler air arrives over the weekend. Saturday will be breezy with highs near 79°F, while Sunday brings calmer winds and sunshine.

Looking ahead, next week starts with mild temperatures in the low 80s and mostly sunny skies. However, dry conditions persist, keeping fire danger elevated.
