Pawnee, Texas – Residents south of San Antonio experienced a rapid series of seismic activity early Wednesday, as three earthquakes struck within hours, including a magnitude 3.5 event strong enough to be lightly felt near the Coastal Bend.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey and TexNet, the first quake registered at magnitude 2.5 around 1:17 a.m., followed by a stronger 3.5 magnitude event at 1:18 a.m., both centered about 19 kilometers west-northwest of Pawnee. A third quake, measuring 3.4 magnitude, struck later in the morning at 7:02 a.m., indicating continued seismic movement in the same area.

All three earthquakes occurred at relatively shallow depths between about 4.5 and 12.5 kilometers, which can increase the likelihood of minor surface shaking. No damage or injuries have been reported.

The affected area sits within South Texas oil and gas zones, where occasional seismic activity has been recorded in recent years. Communities including Pawnee, Beeville, and areas south of San Antonio may have felt brief shaking, particularly during the stronger events.

While impacts remain minimal, officials encourage residents to report shaking and stay aware in case additional tremors develop. More updates could follow if seismic activity continues.
