Houston, TX – A strong cold front will move through Southeast Texas, dropping temperatures near or below freezing by Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts gusty north winds beginning late Tuesday, bringing hazardous conditions on land and sea.

According to the NWS Houston-Galveston office, a Gale Warning has been issued from Tuesday afternoon through early Wednesday. Offshore winds are expected to reach 30 knots, with seas climbing to 7-10 feet. Mariners are urged to stay in port or seek safe harbor. Low water levels in Galveston and Matagorda Bays are also anticipated.

Onshore, cities like Houston, Katy, and College Station could see lows in the 30s, while areas closer to the coast will hover just above freezing. Residents should take precautions to protect plants, pets, and outdoor plumbing from the sudden temperature drop.

The cold front is a sharp reminder of winter’s arrival, even in mild Texas climates. Stay informed through local forecasts and prepare accordingly for the incoming weather.
