Lubbock, TX – Temperatures are set to soar across Texas on Tuesday, with Lubbock forecasted to reach 84°F, potentially breaking historical records. The National Weather Service warns that unseasonably warm weather will persist through midweek, impacting daily activities and increasing wildfire risks.
According to the National Weather Service, Monday’s high in Lubbock hit 86°F, already surpassing previous records. Tuesday is expected to bring another near-record high of 84°F, with light winds and mostly sunny skies. Childress, another Texas hotspot, is also on track to see highs in the 80s, with similar dry conditions.
The warm spell continues through Wednesday, with highs reaching 82°F before a cooling trend begins Thursday. By the end of the week, temperatures will drop to the mid-70s before falling into the upper 50s by Sunday. Despite the warmth, overnight lows will remain in the 40s, providing some relief.
Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during peak heat, and remain alert for potential fire hazards. Dry conditions combined with gusty winds could elevate fire risks across the region.
