Houston, TX – A significant cold front is moving into Southeast Texas, bringing freezing temperatures and widespread rain to the region starting Thursday. Rain chances increase overnight and into Thursday, with areas south of I-10 seeing the highest probabilities for storms.

According to the National Weather Service, highs will reach the low 50s on Thursday before sharply dropping by the weekend. A hard freeze warning is already in effect for early next week, with lows dipping below 24 degrees in some areas. Freezing rain and even a trace of snow are possible Monday and Tuesday.

Residents are urged to prepare now. Insulate pipes, protect outdoor plants, and ensure pets have warm shelter. With the risk of icy road conditions early next week, drivers should limit non-essential travel and check roadways before heading out.

Rain will taper off by Friday, with mostly sunny skies and milder highs in the 60s expected. However, temperatures will plunge again by Sunday, with lows dropping to the 30s and widespread freezing conditions by Monday morning.

Stay updated with local forecasts as conditions may change. The cold front will impact vulnerable populations, so check on neighbors and family members to ensure their safety during this extended cold snap.
