According to the National Weather Service, a cold weather advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Tuesday, with wind chills between 14 and 20 degrees. Rain and sleet are forecast to develop Wednesday night into Thursday, with areas along the I-35 corridor facing the highest risk of freezing precipitation. The advisory also warns that icy roads could severely impact morning commutes and travel plans.
The five-day forecast reveals Tuesday will remain cold but sunny, with highs reaching 48°F. By Wednesday, temperatures will fall again, reaching highs near 43°F, with increasing clouds. A 40% chance of showers overnight Wednesday will rise to 90% Thursday as a wintry mix develops. Rain could transition into freezing rain by Thursday night, with lows dipping to 34°F. Friday will bring some relief with highs around 45°F, but morning winds may keep it feeling colder.
