Texarkana, TX – A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana from 6 p.m. Tuesday until 10 a.m. Wednesday, with freezing rain and sleet expected to create hazardous road conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, impacted areas include Camp, Franklin, and Titus counties in Texas; Sevier, Howard, and Hempstead counties in Arkansas; and portions of north-central Louisiana, including Shreveport and Monroe. Ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch are possible, with isolated higher amounts in some areas.

The freezing rain and sleet could make roads, bridges, and sidewalks dangerously slippery, especially during the Wednesday morning commute. Authorities urge drivers to slow down and use caution while traveling.

Residents should also prepare for possible power outages due to ice accumulation on trees and power lines. Travelers can check the latest road conditions by calling 511 in their respective states.

Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing by late Wednesday morning, improving road conditions. However, lingering ice may still cause travel disruptions into the afternoon.
