Nashville, TN – A winter storm is set to sweep through Middle Tennessee, bringing heavy snow and hazardous travel conditions through Saturday morning. Residents should prepare for snowfall totals of 4 to 8 inches, with higher amounts possible in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service, snow began falling early Friday morning in areas such as Waynesboro, Lawrenceburg, and Linden. The heaviest snowfall is expected Friday evening, with rates exceeding 1 inch per hour. Poor visibility and icy roads are likely, particularly along I-40 and secondary routes.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday for much of Middle Tennessee. Officials advise against non-essential travel due to worsening conditions, including snow-covered roads and black ice. Drivers who must travel should carry emergency supplies and check the latest road conditions by dialing 511.

The storm’s impact will linger into the weekend, with thawing and refreezing creating icy patches on sidewalks and rural roads. Temperatures are forecast to drop to the teens on Saturday night, compounding the hazards.

The extended outlook shows a break in wintry conditions by Sunday, with sunny skies and highs reaching 40 degrees. Monday will bring similar weather, with highs near 38 degrees under partly sunny skies.

Residents are urged to monitor updates and prepare for potential power outages due to the heavy snow load. Emergency kits should include flashlights, food, water, and warm clothing.

Stay safe and check local weather reports for updates throughout the weekend.
