Memphis, TN – Showers are on the way Friday night in Memphis, bringing significant temperature shifts that could affect weekend plans. Local residents should prepare for rain followed by a cold front expected to bring near-freezing temperatures by Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

According to the National Weather Service, tonight will remain mostly clear with patchy fog forming between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. Temperatures will drop to a low of 33°F. Drivers are urged to use caution on I-55 and local roads early Friday morning as reduced visibility may occur due to fog.

Friday’s high will reach 56°F under increasing clouds, but rain showers are likely by Friday night with an 80% chance of precipitation. Winds will shift to the south before midnight, reaching up to 15 mph. Rainfall is expected to taper off Saturday morning, giving way to partly sunny skies and a high of 48°F.

Saturday night will bring mostly cloudy conditions, with temperatures dropping sharply to a low of 25°F. By Sunday, the cold weather will settle in, with a high of only 30°F under mostly sunny skies. Winds from the north will add an extra chill.

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, temperatures will stay frigid, with a high near 26°F and lows dipping into the teens. A slight chance of snow is forecast late Monday night, potentially impacting travel.

Residents should bundle up and monitor forecasts for updates on changing conditions, especially as the cold front moves through.
