Memphis, TN – Thunderstorms may rattle parts of Memphis Wednesday afternoon as a warm, humid pattern sets in for the midweek stretch across Tennessee. A slight chance of storms begins just after 1 p.m. and could bring isolated lightning, brief downpours, and wet pavement into the evening commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms is in play for Wednesday, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 80°F. North winds around 5 mph will offer little relief from the rising humidity. Conditions become cloudier by Wednesday night, bringing another 20 percent storm chance.

Localized impacts are expected along I-40 and surrounding Shelby County roads, especially during peak travel hours. Drivers should stay alert for sudden visibility drops and wet pavement. Thursday’s chances increase to 50 percent, with another round of storms expected mainly after 1 p.m. Southeast winds around 5 mph will accompany the continued unsettled pattern.

Rain may linger through Friday morning before tapering off, with partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s. The weekend brings relief — sunny and dry conditions return Saturday, with highs climbing to 82°F. Sunday remains mostly sunny with just a slight storm risk in the afternoon, and summer-like highs near 81°F.

Looking Ahead: Monday starts summer strong with sunny skies and a high near 85°F. No severe alerts are active yet, but residents should monitor updated forecasts as storm chances evolve.
