Nashville, TN – A cold weather advisory remains in effect across Middle Tennessee, with wind chills dropping as low as -5°F from Sunday evening to Monday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, the advisory begins at 6 p.m. CST Sunday and continues until noon Monday. The affected region includes major cities like Nashville, Clarksville, Murfreesboro, and Columbia, as well as smaller towns across Middle Tennessee. Temperatures are expected to plunge into the single digits overnight, with strong winds creating dangerous conditions.

The extreme cold increases the risk of hypothermia and frostbite. Officials urge residents to wear warm clothing, hats, and gloves when venturing outdoors. Traveling outdoors should be done with caution, as exposure can quickly lead to health risks.

This weather event is part of a larger arctic front sweeping across the region, bringing unusually frigid temperatures for January. Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities, check on vulnerable neighbors, and ensure pets have proper shelter.

The advisory is expected to end at noon Monday, but temperatures will remain colder than average for several days.
