Nashville, Tennessee – Pop-up storms could disrupt travel and outdoor plans in Middle Tennessee Thursday as heat builds toward 90°F by midday. Brief downpours and thunder are possible from 3 p.m. onward, especially along the I-40 corridor near Nashville and Franklin.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, Thursday’s storm chances remain low but notable, with a 30% chance of thunderstorms after 3 p.m., and a peak risk window between 4–6 p.m. Winds from the southwest could gust near 10 mph, pushing humid air into the region and triggering isolated convection. No severe weather is forecast, but brief lightning and ponding on roadways could impact drivers.

Cities like Brentwood, Lebanon, and Murfreesboro may see brief delays or wet roads, especially during the afternoon commute. While organized severe storms aren’t expected, isolated cells could produce thunder and quick downpours. Drivers should reduce speeds in wet conditions and delay outdoor activities if thunder is heard.

Rain chances increase Friday, with a 40% to 80% chance of thunderstorms from morning through evening. Thunderstorm activity will continue into the weekend, particularly Friday night into early Saturday, with locally heavy rainfall possible.
