Memphis, Tennessee – Strong storms could bring damaging wind gusts, large hail, and a few tornadoes to parts of Tennessee and the Mid-South between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, with Memphis, Tupelo, and Clarksville in the highest risk zone.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, an “Enhanced Risk” (level 3 of 5) has been issued for areas south of I-40, including Oxford and Grenada, with a “Slight Risk” (level 2) extending north toward Union City and Paris. Storms will move northwest to southeast and may organize into clusters capable of downing trees and power lines. A tornado or two cannot be ruled out.

Travelers along I-40, US-45, and I-55 should prepare for sudden storm bursts and low visibility. Residents are urged to charge devices, secure outdoor items, and have multiple ways to receive alerts, including NOAA weather radios and mobile apps.

Saturday’s threat mirrors previous early June systems that brought isolated tornadoes and widespread wind damage. Stay indoors during warnings and avoid unnecessary travel during active storms.

Severe weather alerts remain in effect through Saturday evening, with additional watches or warnings possible by midday.
