Tennessee Weather Alert: Heavy Rain Expected South of I-40 Through Monday

Memphis, TN – Heavy rainfall is forecast to continue across Memphis and areas south of I-40 into Monday. The National Weather Service warns that the heaviest precipitation could lead to slick roadways and localized flooding this afternoon and evening. Drivers should exercise caution, particularly along I-40 and major roadways.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, rain amounts are projected to reach 1.5 to 2 inches in southern counties, while northern areas could see 0.5 to 1.5 inches. Showers will intensify after 2 p.m. today, with steady rain expected to last through the night. Some thunderstorms are also likely, especially overnight. Temperatures will reach a high of 56 today, cooling to 55 by evening.

Five-Day Forecast

• Monday: Morning showers taper off by noon. Highs reach 63, with mild winds from the south.

• Tuesday: Partly sunny skies emerge with highs around 51, bringing a break from rain.

• Wednesday: Clear skies dominate, with a colder high near 45 and lows dipping to 28 overnight.

• Thursday: Sunny and warmer with a high near 50.

• Friday: Cooler temperatures return, along with a chance for snow late in the evening.
