Nashville, TN – Middle Tennessee is set to face a weekend of heavy rain, storms, and potential flooding, creating hazardous conditions for travelers and residents. With widespread rainfall expected from Friday night through Sunday, some areas could see over three inches of rain, increasing the risk of river and flash flooding.

According to the National Weather Service, several rivers—including the Buffalo, Cumberland, and Harpeth—have a significant chance of reaching minor to moderate flood stages. Low-lying areas and poor drainage zones could see flash flooding, especially on Saturday when thunderstorms intensify.

Thursday will provide a brief break, with decreasing clouds and mild temperatures in the low 40s. However, rain returns late Friday, with showers turning into steady, heavy rainfall through the weekend. Winds could gust up to 25 mph, making travel on major roads like I-40 and I-65 difficult.

Residents should monitor local forecasts and prepare for possible flooding. If roads become submerged, turn around—do not attempt to drive through floodwaters. Emergency alerts and updates will be issued as conditions develop.
