Nashville, TN – A flood watch remains in effect across much of Middle Tennessee, including Nashville, through Sunday morning, as spring weather brings severe thunderstorms and heavy rain. With up to 2 inches of rain expected, the region faces a heightened risk of flash flooding, particularly in urban areas with poor drainage systems.

According to the National Weather Service, areas like Davidson, Sumner, and Wilson counties are most vulnerable. The severe thunderstorms may also bring hail, strong winds, and frequent lightning, making travel hazardous on major roadways like Interstate 40 and Interstate 24. Motorists are advised to stay alert and avoid flooded areas.

Residents should prepare for potential power outages and ensure storm drains around their properties are clear. Local officials also warn of possible flash floods in low-lying and urban areas. In addition to the flood watch, a flood advisory remains in effect for the Stones River near Donelson, where water levels are expected to rise.

Looking ahead to the week, the weather in Nashville will stay unpredictable. After Sunday’s storms, temperatures will drop, with highs near 61°F on Monday and lows dipping to 35°F by Tuesday morning. While the chance of rain will decrease, residents should still be cautious as spring weather often brings quick changes.
