Nashville, Tenn. – Damaging winds and heavy downpours could slam Middle Tennessee between 1 and 6 p.m. Monday as another round of severe storms rolls through the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, a Level 1 to Level 2 risk for severe weather covers much of the mid-state, including Nashville, Murfreesboro, and Cookeville. The main threats are straight-line winds and localized flooding. Large hail is not likely, and no tornado activity is expected.

Storms are most likely to develop in the early afternoon and persist through rush hour. Wind gusts may lead to downed limbs or brief power outages, especially in open or elevated areas. Heavy rainfall in a short time span could lead to ponding on roadways and low-lying spots like underpasses. TDOT crews are urging drivers to slow down and allow extra travel time.

Residents should stay weather-aware with multiple ways to receive alerts. If you’re out this afternoon, secure outdoor items and avoid flooded roads. Monday evening’s weather should improve, and drier conditions are expected Tuesday and Wednesday.

However, rain and storm chances are expected to return later in the week, especially by the weekend.
