Memphis, Tennessee – Summer weather settles into Memphis on Tuesday, bringing clear skies and temperatures climbing to 86°F before thunderstorms return later this week.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, Tuesday, June 10 will be mostly sunny with light winds from the northwest. It marks a brief reprieve from Monday’s storms before a surge of summer heat and humidity builds through midweek. Temperatures will reach 90°F by Wednesday and remain elevated through Saturday.

Travelers and residents should take note: a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms returns by Thursday afternoon. That probability rises to 50% by Friday, especially after 1 p.m. Roads like I-240 and U.S. Route 78 may become slick during downpours. Outdoor plans should be rescheduled or moved indoors Thursday through Saturday.

Humidity will rise sharply by midweek, making it feel hotter than actual temperatures. Stay hydrated, limit outdoor work during peak hours, and check on older neighbors or pets. Power usage may increase as cooling demand spikes across Shelby County.

Looking ahead, the extended forecast calls for scattered showers into Sunday, June 14, with highs hovering near 89°F each day. While no widespread flooding is expected, isolated thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall.

Storm chances ease slightly Sunday night. Another round of clearer skies could return early next week, but more advisories are possible by then.

☀️ Stay weather-aware and follow updates from the Memphis NWS office as warnings may be issued with short notice.
