Huntsville, Alabama – Up to 2 inches of rain could drench north Alabama and southern middle Tennessee this weekend, with flash flooding and strong storms possible from Friday afternoon through Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, the heaviest rainfall is expected Saturday and Saturday night. Totals could reach 1.25 to 2 inches across the region, with higher localized amounts south of Decatur, Athens, and Cullman. Flash flooding may occur in low-lying and urban areas, and along creeks, streams, and rivers. Storms will be scattered, not forming a line, making them harder to predict.

Hazards include damaging winds, flash flooding, and the possibility of large hail—especially between 3–9 p.m. Friday and 1–9 p.m. Saturday. Locations such as Florence, Scottsboro, and Guntersville are all within the moderate threat zone. While tornado chances are low, residents should remain alert.

Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roads. It takes only 12 inches of fast-moving water to sweep away a small car. Charge your devices, plan for power outages, and monitor alerts.

Storms could continue into Monday, with more advisories possible if rainfall totals increase. Stay weather aware throughout the weekend.
