Huntsville, AL – A strong storm system is expected to move through the Tennessee Valley late Sunday night, bringing the potential for large hail, damaging winds, flash flooding, and even tornadoes.
According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, the most severe impacts are likely to occur between the evening hours of Sunday, March 30, and early Monday, March 31. Confidence remains low on the exact timing and intensity, but forecasters are warning residents to prepare for rapidly evolving conditions beginning late Sunday.
Areas across northern Alabama, including Madison, Limestone, and Morgan counties, could see gusts up to 60 mph and isolated tornadoes. Flash flooding is also a concern due to heavy rainfall rates overnight. The severe threat may extend into parts of southern middle Tennessee.
The NWS advises securing outdoor items ahead of the weekend, especially with breezy conditions expected Saturday and Sunday ahead of the storms. Temperatures will range from the upper 70s to low 80s Sunday before dropping into the upper 60s Monday.
