Tennessee Valley – A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect across the Tennessee Valley until 8 AM CDT, impacting early morning commutes. Drivers are strongly urged to reduce their speed when encountering dense fog conditions to ensure their safety and that of others. Low visibility, particularly near schools and bus stops, increases the risk of accidents.

According to the National Weather Service, drivers should allocate extra time for travel as visibility remains at dangerous levels. Commuters have limited reaction time, with visibility dropping to just 100 feet, leaving as little as 1.1 seconds to react at highway speeds. Visibility distances range from 1/8 to 1/4 mile in many areas, with freeway speeds offering only a few seconds to respond to obstacles.

The advisory emphasizes extra caution near bus stops and schools, where children and pedestrians are present. Drivers are advised to use headlights, avoid distractions, and maintain safe following distances. The fog is expected to clear after 8 AM.
