Jackson, Tenn. – A brief tornado struck southwest Jackson on Tuesday afternoon, damaging a warehouse and sending debris onto the airfield at McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, the EF-0 tornado touched down at 3:15 p.m. near James Lawrence Road and traveled northeast for 1.29 miles. With peak winds reaching 75 mph, the twister caused roof damage to a warehouse on Smith Lane before lifting at 3:17 p.m. near the airport. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

Videos showed metal debris lofted into the air before being scattered across the area, including parts of the airport grounds. The storm, though short-lived, is a reminder that even low-rated tornadoes can disrupt critical infrastructure.

Residents in Madison County are urged to remain alert as severe weather season continues across West Tennessee. Emergency officials recommend securing outdoor items, reviewing shelter plans, and signing up for local alerts.

No additional tornadoes were confirmed Tuesday, but NWS Memphis noted that damage assessments are ongoing. Further updates may be issued pending final storm data review.
