Memphis, TN – A shift in spring weather will bring gusty winds, showers, and possible thunderstorms to Memphis and surrounding areas early this week. By Tuesday, strong winds reaching 40 mph and heavy rainfall could impact travel on I-40 and local roadways.

According to the National Weather Service, Monday will start with partly sunny skies and a high near 62°F, but conditions will deteriorate by Tuesday as a storm system moves in. Winds will pick up Monday night, reaching 30 mph, with rain and thunderstorms likely by Tuesday morning. Some storms may produce heavy rainfall, with 1 to 2 inches expected in some areas.

Drivers should prepare for wet roads and reduced visibility, especially during peak commuting hours on Tuesday. Those traveling on I-40 or other major highways should allow extra time and check road conditions before heading out.

By Wednesday, the storms will clear, but breezy conditions will persist, with a high near 54°F and gusts up to 35 mph. Temperatures will gradually warm into the upper 50s by Thursday and Friday, with a mix of sun and clouds.

The next chance for rain arrives Friday night into Saturday, with scattered showers possible. While no severe weather is expected beyond Tuesday, residents should stay alert for updates and prepare for changing conditions throughout the week.
