According to the National Weather Service, a 50% chance of storms develops Wednesday night, increasing to a 90% likelihood by Thursday morning. The system could bring up to three-quarters of an inch of rain across Shelby County, with gusts reaching 25 mph by midday Thursday. South winds are expected to remain steady between 10 and 15 mph.
Drivers should prepare for slick conditions, especially along I-55 and I-240 near Memphis during the morning commute Thursday. Standing water and reduced visibility are possible. If thunder roars, stay indoors and delay non-essential travel. Localized flooding may occur in low-lying areas, though no official flood watch is in effect as of Tuesday night.
Rain continues Thursday night into early Friday, with a slight chance of lingering storms after 1 p.m. Friday. The region begins to dry out late Friday, with highs near 77 and calmer northwest winds.
Saturday offers a full spring recovery with sunny skies and highs in the mid-70s. Sunday and Monday continue the trend with seasonable temperatures and no precipitation expected.
