Memphis, TN – Rising water on the Mississippi River is keeping parts of West Memphis and Memphis on high alert this weekend, as moderate flooding threatens major roads and low-lying neighborhoods into Saturday. Residents near Robinson Road and levee areas are urged to plan alternate routes and stay alert for rapid changes, especially with more spring storms expected.

According to the National Weather Service, the flood warning for the Mississippi River at Memphis remains in effect until early Saturday morning, with minor to moderate flooding along Tiptonville, Caruthersville, Osceola, and West Memphis. The river is expected to fall below flood stage late tonight, but impacted roads—including Robinson Road inside the levee—remain flooded and may not clear immediately.

Motorists should avoid all flooded areas, heed barricades, and never attempt to drive through high water. Those living near riverbanks should use caution, as additional rainfall from spring thunderstorms on Saturday and Monday could slow water recession and keep local hazards in place.

The five-day spring weather forecast shows a chance of thunderstorms Saturday, with highs near 78°F and gusty winds. Most of Sunday and Monday will be mostly sunny and warm, reaching the mid-80s. However, rain returns Monday night with a 20 percent chance of showers, increasing to a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms by Tuesday. Wednesday brings another round of likely showers and thunderstorms, keeping the flood threat in focus.

Warnings remain in effect for affected areas until water levels recede and more spring storms move out. Stay tuned to local updates for new advisories and preparedness steps.
