Memphis, Tenn. – Residents across West Tennessee should prepare for isolated severe storms beginning at 6 p.m. tonight, with wind gusts up to 60 mph and the chance of small hail extending through midnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, a Level 1 “Marginal Risk” has been issued for the region, including Memphis, Jackson, and surrounding counties. Storms will move west to east and may include brief, damaging wind and isolated hail. Localized flooding is not expected, but lightning and brief downpours are possible.
Thursday’s threat increases to a Level 2 “Slight Risk” from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., especially across Memphis, Jackson, Corinth, and Tupelo. Damaging wind remains the primary threat, though an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Commuters and those with outdoor plans should stay alert to changing conditions.
By Friday, the severe risk diminishes slightly but still lingers with isolated storms possible in the afternoon and evening. Memphis and areas north remain under a Marginal Risk with damaging wind and heavy rain likely being the main hazards.
Residents should have multiple ways to receive warnings and avoid outdoor activities during peak storm hours. More updates are expected as conditions evolve through Friday.
