Morristown, TN – Heavy snow continues to impact Southwest Virginia and East Tennessee, with Winter Storm Warnings remaining in effect until early Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, areas in Virginia’s Lee, Wise, Russell, and Washington Counties can expect an additional 1 to 2 inches of snow in low-lying areas, with 2 to 4 inches in higher elevations. The warning extends until 1 a.m. Monday.

In East Tennessee, higher elevations of the Smoky Mountains are forecasted to receive 6 to 10 inches of snow, with most areas seeing 3 to 5 inches. The warning for these regions, including Johnson, Unicoi, and Sevier Counties, is in place until 4 a.m. Monday. Wind gusts could reach 35 mph, further reducing visibility.

Authorities are urging drivers to avoid unnecessary travel as roads remain slick and dangerous. Travelers are advised to carry emergency supplies, including food, water, and flashlights.

For updated road conditions, residents are encouraged to dial 511 for state-specific information. This storm could cause delays and disruptions into Monday morning, particularly in higher elevations.
