Nashville, TN – A flood watch remains in effect for Middle Tennessee from late Friday night through Sunday morning as heavy rainfall threatens to cause rising waters across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, a significant rainfall event will bring 2 to 4 inches of rain to Middle Tennessee, with localized totals reaching 5 inches in northwest areas. The excessive runoff could lead to flooding in rivers, creeks, streams, and low-lying locations.

The flood watch includes Nashville, Clarksville, Murfreesboro, Franklin, and surrounding areas, spanning 40 counties. Residents in flood-prone areas are urged to stay alert and prepare for possible flooding.

Forecasters warn that additional rain over already saturated ground increases the risk of flash flooding. Emergency officials advise motorists to avoid driving through flooded roads and to have an evacuation plan if water levels rise.

The flood watch remains in effect through Sunday morning. Residents should monitor weather updates and be prepared for potential flood warnings. More information can be found at weather.gov.
