Memphis, TN – A strong cold front is sweeping across Tennessee today, bringing sharply colder temperatures and gusty winds through the weekend. Highs will struggle to reach 40 degrees Saturday, while wind gusts could reach up to 30 mph, making it feel even colder.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, Friday’s cold front will dominate the region through Saturday, dropping overnight lows to the upper 20s. Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor decorations and limit time outdoors during peak wind gusts to avoid potential hazards. Winds are expected to calm slightly by Sunday but temperatures will remain chilly.

Saturday will be mostly sunny but brisk, with a high of just 42 degrees. Winds from the north will average 10 to 15 mph, creating biting wind chills. Saturday night’s low will dip to 28 degrees, with calmer conditions anticipated overnight.

Sunday brings slightly warmer conditions, with highs nearing 47 degrees under clear skies. Winds will be lighter, offering some relief from the weekend chill. By Monday, the region will warm to 55 degrees, though clouds will begin building, and there’s a slight chance of overnight showers.

Looking ahead, rain chances increase to 40% by Tuesday with a high of 57 degrees, followed by a wet and mild Christmas Day with temperatures climbing to 62 degrees.

Residents should take precautions for the weekend’s cold and windy weather, especially along exposed areas like the I-40 corridor. Plan for extra layers if traveling or attending outdoor events.
