Susitna Valley, AK – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the Susitna Valley, with some areas potentially receiving up to 10 inches of snow. The advisory begins at 10 a.m. Monday and lasts until 1 a.m. Tuesday, as a strong storm system moves into the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Anchorage, areas north of Talkeetna, including Broad Pass, could see significant snowfall of 6 to 10 inches. Talkeetna itself is expected to receive 1 to 3 inches of snow, with up to one-tenth inch of ice accumulation. Mixed precipitation, including freezing rain, could affect travel, especially with snow transitioning to rain in lower elevations as warmer air moves in.
Residents are urged to prepare for hazardous driving conditions and allow extra travel time. Elevated snow totals and ice accumulation could lead to slippery roads and travel disruptions, especially in areas expecting heavier snowfall.
