Ford County, IL – Hazardous travel conditions are expected Sunday night across parts of Illinois and Indiana as a winter storm moves through. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for areas near US-24, including Ford and Iroquois counties in Illinois and Benton County in Indiana.
According to the NWS, snowfall is expected between 7 p.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. Monday, with visibility reduced by falling and blowing snow. Travel impacts could worsen further south, especially in areas shaded orange on the advisory map. Commuters should plan for slippery roads, reduced visibility, and potential delays.
Officials advise drivers to slow down, allow extra travel time, and maintain greater following distances. Residents should also prepare for snow accumulations that may extend beyond Monday morning.
This storm marks the season’s first significant travel advisory in the region. Local authorities are urging caution, particularly for those traveling overnight or during early morning commutes.
