Atlanta, Georgia – Dangerous heat is tightening its grip across Georgia, with heat indices expected to climb into the 98 to 105 degree range across northern and central regions beginning this weekend and lasting through Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Atlanta, the warming trend will intensify early next week, with humid conditions pushing heat index values well above 100° in the metro area by Sunday. Sensitive groups—including children, the elderly, and those without reliable cooling—are at elevated risk as the heat persists across the state.
In Atlanta, daily heat indices are projected to hover in the mid-90s through Friday before peaking above 100° Sunday through Wednesday. Public health officials urge residents to limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and check on neighbors during the peak heat hours of 12 to 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, cooler conditions are expected across the Pacific Northwest, where below-normal temperatures are forecast from June 21–25, offering rare summer relief to cities like Seattle and Portland.
Georgia residents should prepare for extended heat exposure, with more advisories likely if conditions worsen.
