Burlington, VT – The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for parts of New York and Vermont from 7 p.m. Monday until 4 p.m. Tuesday, with gusts of up to 50 mph expected to impact the region.

The advisory covers areas in New York, including Clinton, Franklin, and Western Essex counties, and parts of Vermont, such as Orleans, Franklin, and Grand Isle counties. Residents should prepare for south to southwest winds shifting westerly by Tuesday, with sustained speeds of 15 to 30 mph and gusts reaching up to 50 mph.

According to the National Weather Service, the strongest winds are expected in two intervals: between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. Monday night, mainly in the northern Adirondacks and the Champlain Valley, and again on Tuesday morning from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. over the eastern slopes of the Adirondacks and northern Green Mountains.

Officials warn that unsecured objects could be blown around, and tree limbs may fall, potentially causing scattered power outages. Drivers, particularly those operating high-profile vehicles, are advised to exercise caution.

Residents should secure outdoor items and monitor local updates for changing conditions.
