Houston, TX – Southeast Texas is preparing for severe weather tonight as a strong cold front advances into the region, bringing thunderstorms and potential flooding. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Houston-Galveston has warned of scattered storms, with some expected to intensify over the Houston area.
According to the NWS, the cold front is likely to trigger heavy rains and isolated severe thunderstorms, particularly affecting northern parts of Southeast Texas. Forecasters report a slight flash flood risk, with rainfall totals reaching up to 2 inches in some areas and local amounts possibly exceeding 3 inches farther south.
Meteorologists caution that the storms may produce strong winds and isolated hail as they move through overnight and into early Saturday. High temperatures are expected to drop on Saturday, with daytime highs forecasted in the 70s and cooler nighttime lows in the 50s across the region.
Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts, secure outdoor items, and stay alert for potential flood warnings and advisories as the cold front passes through.
