Tallahassee, FL – Residents across Florida’s Big Bend region should prepare for widespread rainfall starting Monday as tropical moisture surges northward. Forecasters expect totals between 2 to 4 inches, with locally higher amounts possible, raising concerns about flooded roadways, including areas near the I-10 corridor.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, rain chances will sharply increase Monday afternoon, continuing into Wednesday. The heaviest downpours are expected late Tuesday into early Wednesday, potentially affecting commutes and causing ponding on major roads such as U.S. 319 and U.S. 27.

The rainfall stems from remnants of Tropical Storm Sara, which continues to funnel moisture into the Southeast. While severe weather is not currently expected, isolated thunderstorms may develop late Tuesday, accompanied by brief gusty winds.

Looking ahead, patchy fog may form Monday morning before the rain moves in. High temperatures will hover near 78 degrees Monday, dipping into the mid-60s at night. A cooler, drier air mass will arrive by Thursday, offering sunny skies and highs in the low 60s.
