Austin, TX – Rain and potential thunderstorms are expected in Austin Sunday as a storm system moves through the region, bringing wet and cooler conditions.
Sunday’s forecast calls for a 60% chance of rain, primarily in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms possible east of Highway 281. Highs will reach the low 50s, and patchy fog may develop later in the day, creating hazardous driving conditions. Residents should prepare for reduced visibility on I-35 and other major roadways.
According to the National Weather Service, the unsettled weather will continue into next week, with drizzle and cloudy skies Monday and Tuesday. Another stronger front is expected to move through midweek, increasing rain and thunderstorm chances by Thursday.
This week’s weather will feature fluctuating temperatures, cooler early in the week before warming up slightly by midweek. Rainfall totals are expected to remain minimal overall but could increase with isolated storms later in the week.
