Atlanta, Georgia – Scattered afternoon thunderstorms will continue across Georgia through Sunday, bringing short bursts of rain and potential lightning to much of the state each day. While mornings will stay largely dry, drivers and outdoor workers should expect brief downpours and slick roads by late afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, scattered PM thunderstorms are expected daily through Sunday, with highs climbing from the upper 80s early in the week to the low-to-mid 90s by the weekend. The storms may last between 30 minutes to an hour, mainly between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., with isolated pockets of heavy rain.

Cities including Macon, Augusta, Columbus, and the metro Atlanta area will see highs in the 90 to 94°F range by Saturday. Humidity will push heat indices higher, and residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit midday outdoor activity, and monitor local alerts. Some minor power outages or delays in evening commutes are possible during heavier downpours.

This pattern marks the state’s first sustained stretch of 90s this June, with more widespread heat expected next week.
