St. Louis, Missouri – Missourians are waking up to hazy skies and unseasonable heat Monday as wildfire smoke drifts into the region and temperatures rise well above early June norms.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, highs today will reach between 85° and 90°, about 5 to 10 degrees warmer than average. The haze—fueled by ongoing wildfires to the west—will keep skies partly cloudy and could affect visibility in parts of central and eastern Missouri.

The smoke is most noticeable across the St. Louis metro, with similar conditions stretching through Columbia, Jefferson City, and into the southern counties. While air quality has not yet reached hazardous levels, sensitive groups may want to limit prolonged outdoor activity.

No rainfall is expected, and humidity will stay moderate. Drivers should stay alert during peak afternoon hours when sunlight filtered through smoke can reduce contrast and glare. Those with asthma or heart conditions are advised to check airnow.gov for localized air quality levels.

This early June heat is expected to persist through midweek, with more 90° highs likely by Wednesday. Updates will follow if air quality alerts are issued.
