St. Louis, MO – Missouri is bracing for a sharp weather shift, as record-high temperatures are expected today and tomorrow before a significant cold front arrives by Sunday. Residents across St. Louis and Quincy are urged to prepare for highs in the 80s today and Saturday, with the possibility of record-breaking heat on Saturday.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service in St. Louis, highs today will near 89°F in St. Louis and 88°F in Quincy, approaching historical records set in 1890 and 1975, respectively. However, cooler weather will follow quickly as a cold front moves through the region late Saturday into Sunday. By early next week, temperatures will drop drastically, with highs only reaching the 50s and 60s and lows dipping into the 30s. A widespread frost advisory is in place for Wednesday morning, with a light freeze expected in outlying areas.

Residents should take precautions during the day’s extreme heat, including staying hydrated and avoiding outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours. As temperatures drop, now is the time to prepare gardens and outdoor plants for frost. Those driving along I-70 this weekend should also be aware of shifting road conditions, especially with fog and potential frost forming by midweek.
