Salt Lake City, Utah – Isolated thunderstorms could spark lightning, strong wind gusts, and downpours across northern Utah and southwest Wyoming by Tuesday afternoon, with broader storm activity ramping up on Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, the greatest threat for severe weather comes Wednesday, when scattered thunderstorms could bring frequent lightning, heavy rainfall, and wind gusts strong enough to impact travel and outdoor plans. Areas most at risk include Logan, Salt Lake City, and Park City, with storms pushing into southwestern Wyoming communities such as Evanston.
Temperatures remain in the low to mid-90s across much of Utah on Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs reaching 103°F in St. George. The storm system will shift out by Thursday, ushering in a stretch of much drier and warmer conditions through the weekend. Cities like Cedar City and Provo will return to the 90s, and triple-digit heat is expected again in southern Utah.
Residents are advised to monitor weather updates, avoid travel during lightning storms, and secure loose outdoor items ahead of possible wind bursts.
Storm watches remain possible through Wednesday night, with calmer, hotter conditions expected to dominate Thursday through Saturday.
