Lubbock, TX – Residents across the South Plains can expect breezy conditions and mild temperatures this week, with daytime highs in the 60s to 70s and gusty southwest winds. A chance of flurries on Thanksgiving could bring a holiday chill to the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, today will see a high near 62°F with winds ranging from 15 to 25 mph, gusting up to 30 mph. Tonight, temperatures will drop to 49°F under partly cloudy skies, so bundle up for any late-night outings.
Looking ahead, Wednesday promises sunny skies and a warm high of 72°F, but gusty southwest winds could make outdoor activities brisk. Thanksgiving Day, however, may see flurries before noon as temperatures drop to a high of 49°F with calmer winds from the north.
Roadways, particularly along US Route 87 and Interstate 27, may experience low visibility during morning frost or flurries. Motorists are advised to drive cautiously, especially early in the morning or after dark.
By Friday, cooler conditions return, with a high near 52°F and lows dipping to the mid-30s. Sunny but crisp weather will persist into Saturday, which features a high of 55°F and lows near 27°F overnight.
Prepare for variable weather by dressing in layers and monitoring updates from local forecasters. As always, avoid outdoor burning during gusty conditions to reduce fire hazards.
