Blacksburg, Va. – Dry and warm weather across Southwest Virginia is making for an ideal Easter Sunday, but residents should prepare for increasing rain chances starting Monday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, a cold front will approach the region overnight Monday, bringing isolated rain chances. The best potential for showers and thunderstorms will occur later in the week, particularly across southern Virginia and into North Carolina. Highs will remain in the upper 70s through Monday, before dipping slightly by Wednesday and Thursday, when scattered storms are expected.

Roanoke, Lynchburg, and Danville could see a few spotty showers Tuesday, with a better chance for thunderstorms developing by Thursday. Areas near the Virginia-North Carolina border—especially along U.S. Route 29 and I-77—should stay alert for sudden downpours and possible lightning during the evening commute later this week.

Locals are encouraged to enjoy the dry Easter conditions but should check back for updates as confidence grows in the midweek rain pattern. Keep mobile devices charged and avoid outdoor activities during thunderstorms. Rain chances continue daily through Thursday, with the next significant system likely arriving late week.
