Cincinnati, Ohio – Drivers in Cincinnati and surrounding areas should be alert for potential street-level flooding tonight as heavy rain sweeps through the Ohio River Valley.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, the greatest risk for isolated flash flooding extends across southwest Ohio, eastern Indiana, and northern Kentucky—including the Miami Valley and metro Cincinnati. Rain chances will ramp up after sunset Friday and continue through the overnight hours, with torrential downpours possible in some neighborhoods.
Localized flooding may occur on low-lying roads, poorly drained intersections, and underpasses, especially in urban areas like Norwood, Oakley, and Covington. Commuters and late-night travelers are urged to avoid water-covered roads and watch for fast-rising water in areas prone to drainage issues. Emergency crews may respond to water rescues or road closures if heavier bands of rain develop.
While the flooding threat is not widespread, it may catch residents off guard due to poor nighttime visibility. NWS officials recommend charging mobile devices, delaying non-essential travel, and monitoring weather alerts through early Saturday.
Rain will gradually diminish toward daybreak, but flood advisories could extend into Saturday morning depending on overnight totals.
