Albuquerque, NM – Mostly clear skies will bring mild temperatures to New Mexico today, but winter weather is on the way.

Temperatures on Wednesday will remain 5 to 10 degrees above seasonal averages, with highs ranging from the low 50s to the upper 60s across the state. However, a sharp cold front is expected to arrive early next week, bringing a chance of light snow and much colder temperatures.

According to the National Weather Service in Albuquerque, clear skies and mild conditions will continue through Sunday. Highs today in Albuquerque will reach 58°F, while areas like Roswell will peak near 65°F. Temperatures will begin to drop sharply Monday as a winter storm system moves into northern and central parts of the state.

Drivers are urged to stay updated on forecasts as the storm may impact travel conditions on major routes, including I-25 and I-40, beginning late Sunday. Snow accumulation is expected to be light in most areas, but colder temperatures will increase the risk of slick roads.

The weekend will bring slightly cooler temperatures, with highs dropping into the 40s and 50s by Sunday in northern areas. The cold front is expected to push lows below freezing by Monday night, with some areas seeing temperatures in the 20s.

Residents should prepare for potential weather-related disruptions early next week by securing outdoor items and planning for longer travel times. Updates on the storm track and snow forecasts will be provided by the National Weather Service in the coming days.

Stay tuned for the latest weather developments and plan ahead for winter conditions.
