Grand Rapids, Michigan – Residents across central and southwest Michigan woke up to a cold snap Sunday morning, with frost advisories threatening sensitive plants through 8 a.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, temperatures dropped as low as 30°F overnight, creating ideal conditions for frost formation. The advisory covers cities including Grand Rapids, Lansing, Kalamazoo, Holland, and Battle Creek, with impacts stretching across portions of central, south central, southwest, and west central Michigan.

Gardeners and homeowners were urged to cover tender outdoor plants or bring them inside to avoid potential damage. Areas like Muskegon, South Haven, and Charlotte were especially at risk as calm winds and clear skies enhanced frost development early Sunday.

The frost threat will ease as the sun rises and temperatures climb into the mid-60s by this afternoon. However, residents should stay alert for possible future advisories as cooler nights remain in the extended forecast.
