Lake Charles, Louisiana – Hot, stormy days are building across Louisiana and Southeast Texas this weekend as highs climb into the upper 90s and thunderstorm chances spike by early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, heat indices could approach 100°F through Sunday across central and southwest Louisiana, with highs ranging from 89°F to 97°F and humidity levels remaining oppressive. Rain chances increase slightly each day—peaking at 90% by Tuesday.

The most widespread impacts are expected Monday and Tuesday, when heavier storms could trigger local street flooding in cities like Lake Charles, Beaumont, and Alexandria. Afternoon and evening travel may be disrupted on I-10 and US-165 due to water accumulation and reduced visibility.

Residents should limit outdoor activity during peak heat, stay hydrated, and monitor weather alerts, especially Monday night when storms may intensify. Unsettled weather early next week could bring temporary relief from the heat.

Showers and thunderstorms remain likely through Tuesday, with slightly cooler temps expected midweek.
