Springfield, IL – Freezing fog and black ice are expected to develop overnight Thursday across southwest and south-central Illinois, creating hazardous travel conditions. Snowfall is also forecast Friday, adding further risks for morning commuters.
According to the National Weather Service, visibility may drop to a half-mile or less Thursday night, particularly near rural roads and highways. Looking ahead, the region will see a gradual clearing Saturday, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 32°F. Sunday brings partly sunny conditions with a high of 37°F, offering a brief reprieve before colder weather returns Monday.
