Dallas, Texas – Severe thunderstorms are expected to erupt across North Texas and southern Oklahoma this afternoon, bringing a serious threat of very large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes to millions through Saturday evening.

According to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center, supercells are likely to form by late afternoon across central Texas and southern Oklahoma before merging into a line of storms sweeping east into the ArkLaTex region tonight. Areas under an Enhanced Risk include Dallas-Fort Worth, Norman, Texarkana, and Wichita Falls, with the highest hail threat concentrated along the Red River Valley.

Cities such as Fort Worth, Killeen, and Shreveport could see hailstones larger than 3 inches, wind gusts over 60 mph, and brief tornadoes during peak evening hours. The threat zone stretches from San Angelo and Austin to Little Rock and Fayetteville. Travel on I-35, I-20, and U.S. 69 could become hazardous due to rapidly changing weather conditions.

Residents are urged to charge phones, secure outdoor items, and monitor local alerts. If warnings are issued, seek shelter in a sturdy structure and avoid windows.

Storm warnings remain active through late evening, with more updates possible as the system moves east.
