Medford, OR – Southern Oregon residents should prepare for wet and windy conditions by late Friday, as a band of rain moves into the Medford area, bringing gusts up to 21 mph and a 70% chance of precipitation.
According to the National Weather Service in Medford, rain is likely after 11 p.m. Friday, with cloud cover increasing during the day. Wind speeds will pick up by afternoon, shifting northwest at 5 to 8 mph before strengthening to 14 mph with gusts in the evening. New rainfall amounts are expected to range between a tenth and quarter inch.
Medford and surrounding communities, including Central Point and Ashland, could see the most impact during late Friday night into early Saturday. Drivers are advised to slow down on wet roads, especially along I-5 and Highway 62. Although only a slight chance of rain lingers into Saturday night, overnight temperatures will dip to the low 40s.
Rain isn’t expected to linger long, with sunshine returning Sunday and highs climbing to the upper 60s. Still, the NWS says more spring showers are possible early next week.
Residents should monitor updates and avoid unnecessary travel during peak rain hours Friday night. Additional advisories could be issued if rainfall intensifies.
